    • 2009 Warm Springs Retreat & Conference

    In April 2009, Polio Survivors will gather at Roosevelt Warm Springs in Georgia for Post-Polio Health International's 10th International Conference: Living with Polio in the 21st Century" (www.post-polio.org)

    The Conference is preceded by a 4 day Retreat at "Camp Dream", also located within the grounds.
    Attending both activities from Polio Network Victoria are: Mary-ann Liethof, Polio Community Officer (thanks to a grant from the Harold Mitchell Foundation); Liz Telford, Polio Advisory Committee Member; Shirley Glance, Bayside Post Polio Support Group Convener; and Fran Henke, Mornington Peninsula Post Polio Support Group Member.

    The purpose of my study tour was “To identify techniques to better manage the late effects of polio” in the USA and Canada.
    The inspiration for this project was born out of witnessing the courage and determination revealed to me on a daily basis by the ‘community’ of polio survivors I work with, who are now experiencing post polio syndrome (PPS).
