The Polio Network has commenced a School Speaker Program made up of Police checked volunteers from all over Victoria who are survivors of polio. Speakers are equipped with a presentation kit consisting of overhead transparencies for an overhead projector and a CD for a PowerPoint data show. The presentation and questions would run to approx 45 minutes and is aimed at Grade 5 students and older. A delegation from Polio Australia visited Parliament House on 24 June to discuss funding for establishment and operations of this national body. Lobbying for Polio Australia is currently being done voluntarily by a sub-committee made up of representatives from the State Polio Networks Management Committee. (read more)
